Webinar FAQ

Q What is a webinar?
A A webinar is an Internet-based seminar. You view the presentation in your Web browser on your computer screen through your Internet connection. You hear the speaker present the session live through your computer speakers and in some cases via a telephone line.
Q What do I need to connect?
A You will need a stable Internet connection (high speed is best) and the ability to download our webinar software onto your computer.  If you are on a networked system, check with your administrator to ensure that you will be able to download the webinar software.  You will also need speakers or a headset to listen to the webinar.

You may also need a telephone to dial the toll-free number provided (for select webinars).   If a group will be participating and viewing the same computer screen, you may wish to use a projector.

Q How interactive is the webinar?
A

You can hear the presenter and can also type a question, which the presenter may answer immediately or after the Webinar is over. During the sessions, the presenter may ask the audience a question through a poll and display the results immediately.

Q What happens after I register?
A

You will receive a confirmation by e-mail with information on how to log on as well as the Webinar ID number to enter to connect to the Webinar. Be sure to save this e-mail.

Q How do I connect to the webinar?
A

About ten minutes before the webinar is scheduled to begin, open the e-mail confirmation and click on the web address provided. You will then click to install a small plug-in that allows your computer to access the Webinar. You will see a "Waiting Room" if the Webinar has not yet begun. Call the toll-free telephone number if provided one to be able to hear the speaker when the presentation starts.  If you were not given a toll-free number, then you will use the speakers built into your computer to hear the speaker when the presentation starts.

Q What if I can't attend a scheduled webinar?
A Check out our Recorded Webinars section for more information or sign up for another session on this same topic.
